Vigilance Awareness Week was observed in the office of the Controller
General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure between
31.10.2011 to 5.11.2011.
The Vigilance Awareness Week commenced with the administration of the
Pledge by Sh. C.R.Sundaramurti, Controller General of Accounts to all officers
and staff on 31.10.2011. This year, apart from the prominent display of banners
in our offices located at Lok Nayak Bhawan, Khan Market as well as Palika
Bhawan, R.K.Puram, Vigilance Awareness Week was observed by organizing a
few in house programmes/activities. Prominent among these were a lecture on
the topic “Functions and Jurisdiction of the CVC” delivered by Dr. Jaya
Balachandran, Addl. Secretary, CVC on 1St November, 2011, followed by an
interactive session. An essay competition on the topic “Public participation is
the key in controlling corruption” was held on 2nd November, 2011, which
drew an enthusiastic response. The first, second and third prizes were won by
Smt. Bharti Tuli (AAO, lTD), Sh. Mahesh Jhamb (AO, CDN) and Smt. Anamika
Srivastav (Acctt., Group B/NGE) respectively. Posters were also displayed on all
notice boards, conveying the message of participative vigilance. A closing
ceremony was organized on 9th November, 2011 and winners & participants of
essay competition were given prizes by the Controller General of Accounts.
This was the first time that activities were organized in the office of the
Controller General of Accounts, during Vigilance Awareness Week. While
participation by officers and staff was enthusiastic and encouraging during the
week, we must also, always keep in mind that vigilance is the responsibility of
everyone in the organization and we must continue to remain true to the letter
and spirit of the Pledge.
